California Roundup

Feds to meet with Ammiano on pot laws
After more than two months of confusion amid a crackdown by the federal Department of Justice on medical cannabis dispensaries, Assemblyman Tom Ammiano is expected to meet soon with the U.S. attorney's office, the Bay Area Reporter has learned.

Medical Marijuana Crackdown By Feds Forces Hundreds Of California Shops To Close
Medical marijuana dispensaries are shutting their doors in California. Even in the weed haven of San Francisco, three of the best-known dispensaries were forced to close after receiving warning letters from U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag.

Attorney General Holder Says One Thing While His U.S. Attorneys Do Another
Yesterday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder answered questions before the House Judiciary Committee on his Justice Department’s handling of the now-famous federal ATF operation, “Fast and Furious.”

Calexico Planning commission to consider medical marijuana dispensary ban
Calexico City Council unanimously approved a resolution for the city’s Planning Commission to consider and report on a proposed ordinance to ban medical marijuana dispensaries in the city during Tuesday night’s meeting.
