11th Hour for Wolves
Like all native wildlife, wolves have a right to survive in Oregon.
Over the last month, thousands of Oregonians hav stood up against hysterical anti-wildlife legislation in Salem. Thankfully the worst bills have been defeated, but dirty tricks by livestock industry lobbyists threaten to put wolves back in the crosshairs.
Oregon is home to over 1.3 million cows and 29 wolves. The Oregon Cattlemen's Association wants to kill wolves but the law won't let them. Now they want to change the law, but the pesky pro-wildlife public keeps getting in the way.
In the final hours of the legislative session, industry lobbyists are working furiously to broker a backroom deal that would declare a state of emergency, circumvent the Endangered Species Act, and fast track the killing of endangered gray wolves.
Time and again Oregonians have spoken out in favor of wolf and wildlife conservation, but we need to do it again. Tell your state representatives that Oregon has real emergencies. Not killing endangered species isn't one of them.
It’s most important that you take action, but messages have added weight if you use your own words. Why do you care about wolves? Why do you think we should protect wildlife?
