February 09, 2010 Subject: As a member of Peace Action, I am writing to urge you to develop a comprehensive plan for Afghanistan before sending more of our soldiers into harm's way. Sending another 17,000 troops won't solve our problems in Afghanistan, and it is premature to send more troops without a new strategy. We can't afford to continue a strategy that hasn't defeated threats from terrorism and has worsened the situation in Afghanistan. The Bush administration, neglected to use non-military methods that are proven effective in fighting terrorist groups. We need to hear about strategies for effective non-military counterterrorism efforts, development, humanitarian aid, good governance, and regional diplomacy in Afghanistan.
