The nuclear weapons complex does not need economic stimulus
TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE:
Cut $1 billion in nuclear pork from the stimulus package
Since President Obama has pledged to "set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons, and pursue it," a large investment in the nuclear weapons complex makes little sense.
Congress has rejected funding for new nuclear weapons for the past two years, requiring the new administration to complete a review of US nuclear weapons policy this year. Funding decisions should wait until the review is completed and a direction for US nuclear policy has been set.
There are other, more effective ways to stimulate the economy and create jobs than funding the nuclear weapons complex with taxpayers' money.
