Guns or Butter?
Republicans have made their intentions clear. They want to increase military spending and cut deeper into the social safety net. Please take a moment now and call your Representative at 202-224-3121.
Just last week, the President snuck in and out of Afghanistan during the cover of night to sign an agreement that could take the U.S. down a path of having 20,000 - 30,000 troops in harms way until 2024. At the same time, Republicans added over $10 billion in the coming years to the Pentagon budget for nuclear weapons. Luckily, our allies on Capitol Hill will be offering amendments next week to end the war more quickly and to cut the Pentagon budget.
Please take a moment now and call your Representative at 202-224-3121 and ask her or him to vote for amendments that bring the troops home from Afghanistan sooner and that cut Pentagon spending.
Late next week the House will take up the National Defense Authorization Act which funds the Pentagon and the Afghanistan War. Our friends in the House will offer amendments to end the Afghanistan war sooner, to cut the overall Pentagon budget, to postpone a new nuclear bomber and cut a new nuclear bomb plant. The only way these important amendments have a chance of passing is if Representatives hear from you.
Call your Representative now at 202-224-3121 and ask her or him to vote for amendments that bring the troops home from Afghanistan sooner and that cut Pentagon spending.
It's long past time to end the ten-year war in Afghanistan and we must cut the Pentagon budget the devours nearly 50% of government's discretionary spending. Your call will have an impact on how your Representative will vote next week. Please forward this email to your friends, family and colleagues and ask them to make this quick, important call.
