What if it were up to you?

Our country is at risk of defaulting on our loans for the very first time. Congress and the President are deep in negotiations to tackle the federal deficit.

Tea Party compliant Republicans are taking this as an opportunity to cut desperately needed domestic programs that are keeping American families afloat in the economic crisis, such as Social Security and Medicare.

Meanwhile, Congress is increasing the Pentagon budget, already the largest recipient of federal funds – by $17 billion.

If it were up to you, would you increase funding for the Pentagon and cut Medicare and Social Security?

Its time our government stopped ignoring what we want. Sign our petition to keep the Pentagon from eating away programs needed at home.

President Obama, Vice President Biden, Congressional Negotiators,

I am deeply troubled by news reports that indicate negotiations for raising the federal debt limit are focused primarily on cuts to domestic, non-security spending. I am totally opposed to proposals that would reduce funding for Medicare and Social Security.

I demand that you eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in Pentagon spending and ensure corporations and the super rich are paying their fair share. It is unconscionable to cut Medicare, Social Security and other federal programs that meet people's needs during the economic crisis while increasing unnecessary funding to the Pentagon.

Poll after poll indicates that we Americans oppose the tax cuts that have benefited the wealthiest 1% of the population since 2001, that we favor more spending on social programs and less on the military, and that we are thoroughly fed up with the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Please stop ignoring what we want.
