The MCLU supports workplace giving through MaineShare

Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself.

Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself.

Equal protection for all Maine couples is far from secure. Your help is needed now more than ever.

The latest survey from Public Policy Polling shows Question 1, which would reject Maine's new equal marriage law, dead even, with 48% of Mainers in support of equal marriage and 48% opposed.

Join the MCLU as we support the No On 1 Campaign's Get Out the Vote Early effort.  No On 1 will train us as we phone bank supporters, enter data, and knock on doors.

  • Saturday, October 24th at 10:30am, join Shenna and other No On 1 volunteers at the Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland as she canvasses the greater Portland area for marriage equality.
  • On Tuesday, October 27th from 5pm-9pm, come to the MCLU office to help us phone bank MCLU members and encourage them to join the effort. We will have food!
  • On Thursday, October 29th from 5pm-9pm, join the MCLU as we volunteer at the No On 1 Campaign Headquarters at 550 Forest Ave. We will phone bank supporters to encourage them to vote early.

To sign up, email or call Brianna: btwofoot@mclu.org or 774-5444. Want to volunteer but can't make it to the Portland events? Let us know where you're at and we'll connect you with a No On 1 Organizer in your area. Or you can click here to sign up to volunteer:

Past elections have shown that supporters of equal marriage are less likely to get out to vote on Election Day, making the job of protecting marriage that much harder. We can't miss even one No vote on the 3rd. Join us in this historical effort for equality in Maine.

Thanks for all that you do,

Alysia, Brianna, Claire, Edward, Katy, Shenna, Zach
