The MCLU supports workplace giving through MaineShare

The MCLU telephone lines are lighting up today.  Thank you for taking the time to call Congressmen Allen and Michaud and for letting us know that they too care about the Constitution.  Both are pledging to vote no to HR 6304.

Unfortunately, that may not be enough to stop this horrible bill.  If you have the time, call Representatives Pelosi and Hoyer.  They are the ones who have the power to set the schedule.  They could decide NOT to bring this bill forward at all.  Tell them that expanded spying powers and immunity for the telephone companies and the Bush Administration is no deal at all.

Call Nancy Pelosi and urge her to pull the bill from the House schedule:  Phone (202) 225-4965, Fax (202) 225-8259.  Pelosi said yesterday that this is a much better bill than the Senate bill.  She needs to reread them.  This bill is just as bad as the Senate bill insofar as it gives the Bush administration everything they asked for, including immunity.
