Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself.

Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself.

We won't torture you or threaten you with secret rendition to a country that tortures.  But we will put you in a Guantánamo prison cell if you dare.  This Wednesday through Saturday a replica of a Guantánamo prison cell will be on display in Monument Square in Portland.  Visitors are encouraged to enter the cell.  One brave soul plans to spend the night inside.  Come experience for a moment what some at Guantánamo have experienced for years.

Then, hear from the experts who are working tirelessly to restore habeas corpus for the detainees, close Guantánamo and end torture.

ACLU National Security Project Director Jameel Jaffer, one of the lead lawyers who uncovered tens of thousands of pages of evidence of torture will be in Portland on Thursday night to discuss the ACLU's work in Guantánamo.  He will be joined by Amnesty International USA Executive Director Larry Cox and Center for Constitutional Rights Staff Attorney Pardiss Kabriaei.

Thursday, June 5th, 6:30 pm
