Come support the MCLU's vital work to protect religious freedom in Maine over drinks and dinner for a good cause. This year we are proud to present the 2007 Justice Louis Scolnik Award to Jeffrey Thaler, a Shareholder in the law firm Bernstein Shur, for over ten years of volunteer work on four seminal church/state cases.

The Scolnik Award honors members of Maine's legal community who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the protection of civil liberties. The award is named for former Maine Supreme Court Justice Louis Scolnik. Justice Scolnik, who lives in Lewiston, was a founder and the first president of the Maine Civil Liberties Union.

Joining us will be special guest speaker Dr. Jeremy Gunn, Director of the ACLU Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief. Dr. Gunn is globally recognized for his work on religious freedom, his expertise on the Establishment Clause and his deep commitment to civil liberties.

The Scolnik Dinner is a great way to meet the MCLU staff and fellow civil libertarians and learn about the great work happening right here in Maine.
