Dear friends, When the President signed Senator Collins's Postal Reform Act into law, he added a signing statement that declared the government has the authority to open our mail, without a warrant, in "exigent circumstances." But these days, the President seems to treat every day like an exigent circumstance! Leaders on both sides of the aisle should take a cue from our very own Senator Susan Collins. In response to the signing statement, she introduced a resolution on Wednesday to "reaffirm the fundamental constitutional and statutory protections accorded sealed domestic mail." In the resolution, the Senator affirms that "postal customers have a constitutional right to expect that their sealed domestic mail will be protected against unreasonable searches." Call Senator Collins and tell her thanks for standing up for mail privacy. By supporting her, we'll pave the way for more of our leaders to take a stand against the administration's total abuse of power. D.C. Office (202) 224-2523 Call today and thank Senator Collins for doing her job to protect our freedom and defend the Constitution! Thanks for all you do. Rachel
