Phase out the use of hazardous flame retardants in consumer products!
HealthyStuff.org, in coordination with the Alliance for Toxic-Free Fire Safety, is asking the largest car seat retailers, Graco and Evenflo, to take leadership by disclosing and phasing hazardous flame retardants our of their products.
Let’s send a message to Graco and Evenflo: all babies deserve safe, non-toxic car seats!
We, the undersigned along with HealthyStuff.org, ask Graco Baby Inc. and Evenflo Company Inc. to:
HealthyStuff.org is specifically asking the companies to:
1. Commit to a near-term phase-out of halogenated fire retardants (HFRs) for products in the US, Canada and other markets served by their products. Where there are no safer means to meet the FMVSS, use the least toxic HFRs available;
2. Disclose on all chemical flame retardant ingredients on product labels;
3. Establish a company policy that evaluates your current chemical usage, including but not limited to flame retardants, and establishes criteria to determine the least toxic, feasible alternative ingredients and processes (both chemical and non-chemical substitutes) for all products.
