Tell the Virginia Board of Health: TRAP laws hurt women!
Tell the Virginia Board of Health - TRAP laws hurt women!
The Virginia Board of Health is just 60 days away from finalizing outrageous regulations that could severely limit women's access to abortion in Virginia.
These new TRAP laws (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers)require that any clinic that performs abortions in the state of Virginia must meet the same building codes as new hospitals. The Board of Health rejected a measure in September that would allow existing abortion facilities to be "grandfathered" into compliance with the new laws. As a result, all clinics must meet the new building standards within two years or shut their doors. This may result in many clinics being forced to close -- eliminating vital reproductive health services to Virginia women.
On January 28, 2013 the TRAP laws entered a 60 day public comment period before being finalized by the Board of Health in March. This is the last chance to stop anti-choice ideology from becoming law. Tell the Board of Health that these regulations hurt women!
