Student videos celebrate teachers and other educators

The Center on Policy Initiatives is launching the My Fave Teacher project to celebrate the contributions of teachers and other school workers in the San Diego area.  Students K-12 throughout San Diego County are invited to submit 1-minute videos for the website, MyFaveTeacher.net.

Many talented, creative teachers inspire students every day while working under a cloud of budget cutbacks and layoffs.  CPI is committed to nurturing a community conversation on the value of our educators, beginning with this video contest.  Students from elementary through high school can make their voices heard, using video to describe why and how teachers and other educators matter to them.

Just follow the directions below to submit your video.  Click here to sign up for  My Fave Teacher Alerts.

  1. 1.  Sign up, using the form below.

  2. 2.  Make a short video -- no longer than 1 minute -- about a teacher or other adult who works in your school (it could be a librarian, counselor, bus driver, anybody involved in your education). Use your cell phone, web cam or any digital camera.  Your message and creativity are what matter, not slick production.  But if you want some help, you can make an appointment at the Digital Story Station of the Media Arts Center, 619.230.1938, or click here.

  3. 3.  Upload your video to YouTube.com.  You will need a YouTube account , and if you are under age 13 an adult will have to create an account and upload the video for you. If you're new to using YouTube, follow this link for tips on getting started: How To Use YouTube Like a Pro.

  4. 4.  VERY IMPORTANT!! Once your video is uploaded, add the tag "onlineCPIfave" to it (without the quotation marks). You must use this tag to be sure we can feature your video online.  Confused about how to add a tag?  Follow this link to learn how: Tags Definition.

  5. 5.  Email the link to your video to myfave@onlineCPI.org by Sept. 19. Put "My Fave" in the subject line.

First, complete the form below.  Be sure to click "Submit" when you're done.
