Tell City Council: Make banks clean up foreclosure mess
They foreclosed it. They own it. Why should WE pay for it?
Foreclosures lower property values of surrounding homes. They are also a drain on local governments. The Property Value Protection Ordinance, proposed by CPI and ACCE, will reduce the negative impacts of foreclosures on surrounding neighborhoods and the city budget. It would require banks to register foreclosures and keep them properly maintained. If they fail to comply, they would be fined $1000 a day.
