Take Action on the Global Gag Rule
The Global Gag Rule has been treated as a political football from administration to administration. Although President Obama repealed the Global Gag Rule as one of his first acts in office, a future administration hostile to reproductive rights could reinstate the harmful policy.
Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) have offered a solution by introducing the Global Democracy Promotion Act (H.R. 2639/S. 1585). This bill would create a legislative barrier to block attempts by a future administration to re-instate the Global Gag Rule. The measure is necessary to ensure that U.S.-funded organizations can continue to deliver lifesaving information and services that meet the needs of women and families around the world.
Please join your voice with others and urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Global Democracy Promotion Act. Thank you!
