Special Alert: Call with Sen Harkin May 10 on Rebuild America Jobs Act

Dear Congregational Leaders:

As we promised in yesterday's Just Act, here is the information about a special call with Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) on May 10, 4 pm EST, who will speak and take questions about the Rebuild America Act and how we can get America back to work and rebuild our nation's economy.  Read on for information on the call and how to pre-register.  The UUA is a member of the Faith Advocates for Jobs coalition. We are committed to standing on the side of love with the most vulnerable and oppressed among us who are disproportionately affected by the economic crisis.

Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) will speak and take questions about the Rebuild America Act and how we can get America back to work and rebuild our nation's economy.

"This is exactly the kind of bill that creates a vision for the future and stimulates conversations about how the government can serve the common good," said Kim Bobo, Executive Director of IWJ.

The call will also feature Jen Kern from the National Employment Law Project. Kern is NELP's minimum wage campaign coordinator, and will lead a conversation about minimum wage and report on emerging federal and state campaigns.
