ACTION: Urge SunTrust Bank to Address Climate Change

In 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to be the cause of climate warming with over 90% certainty.

SunTrust Bank has not made public a plan to reduce direct or indirect GHG emissions. However, their industry peers are implementing substantial new policies, programs and objectives related to climate change and GHG emissions. Due to this, UUA filed a resolution at SunTrust Bank that requests a sustainability report be prepared annually describing strategies to address the environmental and social impacts of SunTrust's business.

UUA's shareholder advocacy program has made positive change on issues like climate warming, human rights, executive compensation and sexual orientation/gender identity non-discrimination. A new partnership with Moxy Vote now allows each Unitarian Universalist member to automatically vote on these important issues alongside UUA.

If you own shares in SunTrust bank or any other publicly traded company, you can make a difference by joining with the UUA and taking action on Moxy Vote. Watch this video and see how easy change can be.

SUCCESS: Sexuality Education Advocacy Training!

This year's Sexuality Education Advocacy Training (SEAT) was a resounding success. An interfaith group of 40 youth, young adult and allied advocates from across the country visited over 60 Congressional offices to lobby for comprehensive sexuality education. During their lobby visits, hundreds of calls were coming in from the national interfaith call-in day. Our message was heard loud and clear. Thank you to everyone who participated.
