Urge Your Member of Congress to Support the Uniting American Families Act
In April, 2011, Rep. Nadler (D-NY) and Sen. Leahy (D-VT) reintroduced the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) into the House and Senate respectively. The Uniting American Families Act would allow LGBT Americans to sponsor their foreign-born spouses/partners and children for residency in the United States. Passage of this bill would prevent more LGBT families from being torn apart or forced into exile to stay together. UAFA would end immigration discrimination against all LGBT families, regardless of whether they live in the United States or abroad, and regardless of whether their local or state government recognizes their marriage.
Tell Congress that they must act to stop LGBT families from being torn apart by unfair immigration laws!
When you send your letter, add your testimonials, personal experiences and points of view - they are an extremely powerful way to let Congress know how critical passage of UAFA is to LGBT families. Enter your zip code to send a letter to your U.S. Rep and/or Senator urging them to cosponsor the Uniting American Families Act when it is introduced in the upcoming weeks!
