Tell Congress to Prevent Harmful Cuts Due to Start in March

As the new year dawned, Congress passed legislation to continue the Bush tax cuts for all but the top 2 percent, prevent federal unemployment insurance from expiring, and maintain important low-income tax credits for 5 years.  In addition, it replaced 2 months of across-the-board cuts to domestic, international, and Pentagon programs with a combination of revenues and other spending cuts.  Those cuts in current year spending are now scheduled to start on March 1.  They will impose $31.4 billion in cuts to domestic programs like WIC, Head Start, child care, housing, home energy, and homeless aid, education and training, and much more.  Medicare will be cut by $11.2 billion.  Please tell your Senators and Representative to oppose these cuts, and to replace them with revenues from high-income individuals and profitable corporations and with savings from reining in Pentagon waste.
