Week of Action: Support the Saffron Revolution
October 06, 2007
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The for the past month protests have steadily increased inside the country of Burma. The current military regime has governed for almost 2 decades- sending the country into dire poverty, destroying healthcare system, natural resources, and even destroying over 3,000 villages in eastern Burma leading to the mass displacement of over a million and a half people. When the military quintupled the price of natural gas in August, the people knew that this was the last straw.
They have imprisoned and beaten over 200 people in the past month, people who were just speaking out for democracy and human rights. Now hundreds of thousands are rising up in peaceful protests, lead by the nation's Buddhist monks.
Please join me in this event to show solidarity with them
