Come Be a Part of our Bold and Creative Contingent on May 20

In the March to Oppose NATO

The Chicago World Can’t Wait Chapter is looking for volunteers to fulfill specific roles in our contingent on May 20th during the anti-war coalition mass march to protest NATO. Very specifically we are bringing to the fore the crimes associated with the U.S. war on Afghanistan in a strikingly visual way. Needed:

  • People to carry our 8 banners (2 people for each banner), each featuring “Humanity and the Planet Come First” in a different language: Urdu, Farsi/Dari, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, English, and Serbian.

  • People to wear an orange jumpsuit and black hood to represent the detainees being held Guantánamo and Bagram.

  • People to wear black shrouds with white masks representing the death, terror and destruction perpetrated in our names.

We need you to help us show the people of the world, specifically in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that we know about the horrible crimes that our government, with the assistance and complicity of NATO, have perpetrated on them - and that we do not accept this being done in our name. There will be much international press that will be present… think of what it would mean to the people of the world to see our visual and creative sentiment. We will be contacting you soon with more details about the contingent.

If you would like to volunteer to participate by fulfilling one of these roles please fill out this form and specify which role you’d like to play.

See the star on the map to the right for where our contingent will be meeting on Sunday May 20th at 11am (the rally location itself is Petrillo Band Shell at Butler Field in Grant Park and is marked with an “A”).
