I sustain because the steady slide (march?) to the right of all political parties and much political commentary has led to babble instead of political discourse, discouraging even those whose hearts are in the right place to withdraw into "private life." I sustain because the message of World Can't Wait stands in clear opposition to fears about national and personal "security,' to endless wars and policies (like "Stop and Frisk) designed to contribute to those fears. Instead the message points to the real issues confronting us--how do we live rationally and with concern for the people of the world and for our planet.
Sharon Pavlovich
World Can't Wait is a strong voice of dissent and of conscience. We were on the street the night after the election of 2008--in a cold rain--crying No More Torture, No More War, No Matter Who You Voted For. That really was a moment when no one else was visible and when we needed to be and were. I am so grateful to WCW and all the people who make it happen. Thank you for your part in it.
Nancy
Why am I a sustainer? World Can't Wait has the morally correct position on many of the issues I care about - anti-war, free Bradley Manning, stop Islamophobia, and many others. WCW has also taken the strongest position supporting abortion rights of any organization - unapologetic support of a woman's right to choose.
What I like best about WCW and why I am a sustainer is that WCW has taken a stand completely against war. No apologies. Stop the wars. No ifs, ands or buts - stop the wars.
WCW is a caring, inclusive, and active. They are out there - day and night, bringing attention to the issues that matter with a consistent
message of peace.

I've been a small sustaining supporter for some time, even during that period when I wasn't sure when the next paycheck was coming in, or even if it was, because of the work that you do. I value you and your staff's commitment to the causes of dignity, freedom and justice for all
people everywhere, and your uncompromising position that War Crimes should be accounted for and punished. You do the work that I, for
various reasons, do not feel able to do, but I can at least in this small way contribute. If someone is wondering whether or not to support
World Can't Wait I can assure them than their money could not be better spent than by supporting World Can't Wait. I send my deepest hope for your success in adding new subscribers.

I was inspired to sustain by the following Daniel Berrigan's quote: "One cannot level one's moral lance at every evil in the universe. There are just too many of them. But you can do something, and the difference between doing something and doing nothing is EVERYTHING."

Join a collective conscience which also has a very human face. WCW includes people you get to know up close -- who care what you have experienced; who want to know what you know; and who would like to hear where YOU would like to see the peace and justice movements -- both American and International -- GO from here.

Where I live, there is very little anti-war protest or resistance to the crimes of this government. I participate by sustaining World Can't Wait so that others have a way to act. If you can't be in the streets, sustain the organization that makes sure the voice of the people is raised consistently.

I signed up to sustain monthly because I know that freeing up World Can't Wait national office volunteers and activists to 100% build and inform (feed the mind) a movement will have such a great impact. For everyone that relies on Debra's e-mails, looks to World Can't Wait for materials, information, direction all this and much much more gets fueled by the national office.
Adela
I donated my pittance monthly. I will not give anything to any political party, only to what I believe in.
Barbara
My inability to physically participate in the events needed to reclaim our heritage from the right wing, NeoCons, Wall St. hucksters, slavish pols, and all the rest who'd sell our birthrights for a bowl of pottage (no, I'm not biblically inclined, but I am literate) is a constant source of profound sadness which I salve by making contributions to all & sundry who're 'on the right side' ...that's actually the left side to be sure!
So, while you're out there giving the establishment hell about the wars, the economy, Pelican Bay, or whatever, give 'em one for me too!
Rael
Time is running out for the social, economic and ecological changes that need to happen. The people of the world need to be heard in ONE LOUD VOICE.

Because the world can't wait for US Foreign policy to make a 180 degree turn away from from the blowback inducing, homicidal bull in a geopolitcal china shop that it currently is.

I was involved with the local Democratic Party helping to get Barack Obama elected, but I have not been satisfied with the result. I want more done. So I signed your petition demanding the end to criminal activity by both administrations, and made a small donation.

WCW is fighting the good fight, and I hope that you will join me by supporting them with your time and resources. The future of coming generations may depend upon our willingness to stand up now for what we believe is right. And we must do so in greater and greater numbers as things become increasingly urgent!
Linda
I began a monthly donation to WCW on the 12th of each month in memory of the BvG Decision on 12/12/2000 to continue at least until 12/12/2012, the 12th anniversary of that infamous decision. I suppose I should have made it $12 to be consistent, but I decided on $20 despite a personal scarcity of dollars. (I use checks.)

World Can't Wait, you always have my back.

I want to say thanks for you clear voice on the subject of peace & justice. I saw a clip on David Swanson's site were you spoke about the fact that obama is the same as bush and worse. I have become less active in protest and more active as musician & artist and I feel more effective in all ways for this shift of emphasis. I observed the left-leaning peace movement become co-opted to promote dems & obama. Now that the inevitable economic result of 10 years of war and many more years of criminal economic policy & scams at the highest levels have hit peoples jobs and income, folks are starting to hit the streets again. I guess that is good in a way,but it also shows lack of foresight & insight on the part of these disaffected protesters. The narrative is corrupted by the the same forces that want to maintain the 2 party scam. I feel somewhat alone except when I hear your clear & calm assessment of the conditions brought on by these government/military/corporate/medical/banking/wall st/ criminals. So, Thank you Debra! All best to you!
Charles
It is just a shame so many peole are still relly in the dark about what policies are made that affect them everyday. I hear many of them say they are so pleased that they have freedom in this country, yet they see nothing wrong with waving a flag and supportiing these terrible wars that do nothing but kill more people so industrialists can make more money. I don't feel that supports any of us!

The World Can’t Wait is my favorite organization because it fights for human rights wherever a fight is needed. I particularly appreciate its work to counter the vicious attacks on women’s rights to birth control and abortion. I am also an avid supporter of its fight to end torture and the wars through the We Are Not Your Soldiers tour and visible, mass resistance.

The World Can’t Wait, since its founding, has faithfully resisted U.S. crimes of torture, illegal wars, and indefinite detention. It was on the street the day after the 2008 election, when many were sure that Obama would work a miracle, demanding No More Torture, No More War No Matter Who You Voted For. A grandmother of three, I want to be able to answer my children and grandchildren when they ask me why I allowed these crimes in the U.S. with evidence of my actions to stop them. Contributing to World Can’t Wait is one of those actions.

I’m sending you money because you guys are relentless. I mean that in a good way. You’re relentless critics of the government, and you’re relentless in trying to get the people to wake up. Thanks!

I did a little soul-searching about where my fixed income should go, and decided to cancel cable TV service and spend that $70/month on something meaningful. This is hardly a sacrifice, as I've been thinking of doing that for some time, in light of the fact that there is virtually nothing worthwhile to watch anyway. I'm clicking the "sustainer" button right now.
Hell, I may even find time to read again!

Because I love truth. Because I believe in the teaching of Jesus. Because I don't like a military/police state. Becaue sometimes I think I'm in Hell and you give me hope that maybe I'm not.
Warren
It's simple for me. We have to stop the war in Afghanistan AND Iraq. Any military occupation of either of those two countries by the U.S. is ethically, morally and legally wrong! Thank you for what you do...

I am a 74 yr old on social security and very small pension, and believe my children and my grandchildren deserve a better future than this.

"Nowadays, anyone who wishes to combat lies and ignorance and to write the truth must overcome at least five difficulties. He must have the courage to write the truth when truth is everywhere opposed; the keenness to recognize it, although it is everywhere concealed; the skill to manipulate it as a weapon; the judgment to select those in whose hands it will be effective; and the cunning to spread the truth among such persons."
Miller Francis, former writer for Rolling Stone, quoting Bertolt Brecht to explain why he donated to publish Crimes Are Crimes
I have been committed to what World Can't Wait does for a very long time now and the We Are Not Your Soldiers tour is a very important project. Although other subjects are currently, personally closer to home for me, I do not want any of my children or grandchildren to go into the military. They are not at risk but they could be. And other peoples' children should not be subjected to these predatory agents of the state.
MaryAnn Thomas
I am a sustainer of the work of the World Can't Wait because they believe unswervingly in the power of the people to bring about progressive change. Not in some "pie in the sky" kind of way, but in a real way, which sometimes means challenging people to live up to being the kind of force we need, and the kind of movement we can be. During crucial times, especially in 2008 when candidate Obama promised "change", World Can't Wait has stood firm, and pointed out the realities behind the politicians' promises. During the Obama hangover, World Can't Wait has struggled to keep people from trading the necessary resistance they'd waged against the Bush regime's crimes for the promises of a politician who has since proved in starkest, most violent ways that he does not share their burning desire for justice. Throughout it all, World Can't Wait has kept alive the promise, and the reality, of resistance in the interests of the people of the world.
World Can't Wait's strong principles are just as necessary in the down times when people are demobilized and disillusioned as when they are in the streets and active; that's why I donate monthly to sustain the World Can't Wait, and urge others to do the same.
Scott Trent
Because it is an act of resistance to support this movement
Because I will not and can not be complicit to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Because the World Can't Wait has not wavered in principle or resolve...ever.
Because I will never have to tell my grandkids that I did nothing to stop atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Because I will not be a "good German".
Because I can imagine what it could be like to live in a better world...and we have to start the transformation somewhere.
Resist.

I'm broker than Fried Chicken but will pledge $20. I love World Can't Wait because they let me know I am not alone in the world of the tranquilized, blinded and zombiefied.

WorldCantWait performs a vital service in leading the country in opposing the wars and many other right-wing horrors.
Bea Bertwell
Collaborate in the protest activities with the marches that World Can't Wait has organized against this brutality of torture, terror and death against humanity, among civilians, innocent people, women and children (more than a million have died that have had nothing to do with this). They die because of this war initiated by the terror started by the U.S. President George Bush and his government after 9/11. This continues with the president elected by the people in the United States who voted for change through Obama, who has continued this war of terror into Afghanistan.
I give you my support as well as to your great team work and collaborators who give of their energy and time to make these protests rejecting these acts of horror and death. I congratulate you for all that you are doing.

From the gulag state of texas -- go for it this week. The world can't wait to be rid of the torture state, the obamawars on top of the bush wars.
Mary Joe Dillon
We must end all war! Obama, you need to live up to your campaign promises.
Sandy Haire
In a time when the mass anti-war movement has been effectively dismantled by the Obama phenomenon, and the wars are continuing, when some people counsel us to bide our time while civil liberties that Bush annihilated are being further destroyed by Obama, when the architects of torture are being shielded by the Democrats and torture actually continues under this new president, when Christian fascists bellow from the rooftops and are given legitimacy by corporate media, the GOP, and by Obama who counsels bipartisanship with such forces, World Can't Wait declares that non-American lives are no less precious than Americans and calls for resistance to show the world that we aren't passive in the face of the fascist remaking of the country, and the ongoing war crimes being committed in our names. Give to World Can't Wait. Give till it hurts. Give and show where you stand.
Dennis Loo
World Can't Wait should get the Nobel Peace Prize, not Obama. Since they didn't get the prize (and the financial award), I'm doing my part. World Can't Wait gets my prize for fighting not just for some abstract "peace" but for real justice along with an end to war.
Mary Lou
I was thrilled when I read that you had shut down the Army Experience Center in Philadelphia. I wished I could have been there with you -- and at the recent demonstrations in Pittsburgh and Washington, too. But I don't travel well; if I came I'd be too tired to be of much use. The next best thing to being there is to send a little money there. As the Beatles sang, "we're all doing what we can."
