Recover the North Cascades grizzly bear

Create a Future for Grizzly Bears in the North Cascades
In 1975 grizzly bears in the continental US were protected under the Endangered Species Act, and today grizzly bears remain in only five areas within the continental United States. One of those landscapes is Washington's North Cascades, where an estimated fewer than 10 grizzly bears survive. The North Cascades Grizzly Bear Recovery Plan was created in 1997 to save the bear, but it's a plan the US Fish and Wildlife Service has yet to fully implement.
The Cascades grizzly bears need the help of our elected representatives before they disappear forever. Please write to Senator Patty Murray urging her to do all she can to protect and recover the North Cascades grizzly bear, including support for Congressional funding to implement the recovery plan. Especially with the consequences of a rapidly changing climate, Cascades grizzly bears need us to throw them a lifeline. Everything but the funding is already in place to protect our great bears. Federal agencies need Congressional support to implement the long-languishing Cascades grizzly bear recovery plan. Read a letter from the first superintendent of North Cascades National Park.
